I have been asked quite a bit how the nursery is coming along and if there will be any photos to share. Just a day ago the last pieces were hung and our coming (soon!) baby girl’s nursery is complete! So, I thought I would share a peek at her nursery for any that would like to see.
I love it! There are so many pieces that have such meaning and so many that were made with love. After three boy nurseries (which were also fun to do in their own and very different way!) I have to say this was so much fun for me and quite a change to do! I have had many ideas for so long but when it came down to it the original “blue walls with pink accents” just wouldn’t do. 🙂 With a new color scheme and lots of feminine touches the ideas went running! Thanks to various shops on etsy and a few other online shops (Miss Poppy Designs, Inspire Lovely, Restoration Hardware Baby & Child, Land of Nod and my always dreamed about white Jenny Lind spindle crib for making the room complete.
The gold bow in the picture collage is from my late-grandmother that my mom just came across while moving my grandpa. What a perfect touch. My grandma loved bows and so do I! The empty oval frame is another little piece that I painted from my grandmother’s. The ballerina water color is from a sweet instagram follower that shared her lovely talent with me. I used to dance and love the feminine touch of a dancer!
The two dressers have been around for a very long time and just needed some new life with fresh paint! The hardware is all original. At first I was planning to go with glass knobs but since we were trying to keep some gold touches I opted to keep them the way they are. I also love how they pop with the mint. The first dresser was my moms as a little girl and was also her grandmothers. For so many years I have always said that if I ever had a daughter I would love to use it… three boys later I am getting to! The changing table was given to my husband and I when we were first married, over 9 years ago. I nannied for a family with twin girls and they were cleaning things out and it was passed on to us to use for linens (which we did for a little while) and then went to live in a spare room at my parents house…until.. maybe someday I had a girl nursery to put together…
I love that her baby shower invitation and some of the decorations from there are able to be used!
The doily’s were my grandmother’s aunts and some from my father’s grandmother as well. They are what I grew up around on end tables and mantels. I love them hanging in a bunting.
The last canvas was made lovingly by a friend. And those little ruffle leggings will be apart of her newborn session. Other touches are a tiny golden frame that belonged to my grandmother holding our little lady’s latest ultrasound photo, my rattle from when I was an infant and an old copy of my favorite childhood story “The Best Loved Doll”. A long living rocker that is from my parents house, various handmade blankets and quilts and a “pretties” holder from the wonderful “Shabby Sisters” (who also painted the two dressers).
We’ve got just over 2 weeks until we meet our newest addition and it’s safe to say we five can not wait!
Welcome to our Elle Anneliese’s nursery.
(and for any confusion it is pronounced like “L” 😉 )
and just for kicks…me & my 37 week 3 day belly.
